You Can Make Money With Videos Without Having Video Or Film Production Experience

It is more easy than you may think to make money with videos. And you don't have to have any video or film experience to produce successful special interest of educational videos so don't let that stop you.

A few weeks ago, I was honored to hear Julie Clark, the founder of Baby Einstein, speak at a live event. Even though her topic was her entrepreneurial journey, it just seemed that she was speaking to me, a video publisher, directly. Why? Because she started her incredibly successful business producing a VHS video in her basement...without any videography or editing experience! Five years later, in 2001, she sold that business to Disney for more than $20 million dollars. When she announced that figure, I wanted to jump up and shout, "See! You can make money producing and selling you own videos!" How did she do that? And how can you?

Julie Clark was not a videographer or film producer. But she had a great idea for a video. She was a former teacher who became a stay-at-home mom who also loved literature and the arts. As she was looking for videos to enjoy with her child, she found them to be boring. She had difficulty in engaging with them. So she came up with the idea of sharing her love of humanities with her baby through a video. Her intent was to create products that offered interactive experiences for her and her daughter to discover the world together. She also thought other mothers and fathers would have the same desire to share the arts with their baby. The Baby Einstein video was the start of what was to become a successful business. And she actually shot that first one in her basement with a borrowed camera, and edited it on a PC. She got her video distributed in a toy store chain and the rest, as the saying goes, is history.

But you don't have to even do the shooting or editing work as Julie did if you don't want to. You can hire the help and you may be surprised at how affordable that can be. Many of the advisors and business partners we have worked with are not videographers, nor did they want to be, but they had a great idea for a video.

Take a car detailing video we produced and now sell online. We came across this car detailer, Gary, who participated on many forums we followed after purchasing our new car. We would see that people asked him if he had a video to show how he details his customer's cars. Gary would reply that he would love to do a video but didn't know how to produce one or sell them. Enter us and a new partnership was born! Now that video is selling all over the world.

Gary had no videography experience but he had a great idea that we helped him come to life. You can do that too. Search your community for video production companies and tell them what you have in mind. A less expensive alternative to a company that specializes in corporate video may be a wedding videographer. Many of these companies also do other types of video productions. Is there a college in your area that may offer film classes? Contact the specific department and you may uncover the perfect intern to help you.

Sites like oDesk and eLance are great places to find graphic design and scriptwriting help. You can find very reasonable royalty-free music and even talented composers on the internet.

So don't let a lack of experience keep you from bringing your video idea to life.
